Il y a quelques mois, le Life Marha publiait une note technique dédiée à la restauration des habitats benthiques en milieu marin côtier. Le document a été traduit et est aujourd’hui disponible en anglais.

La publication de cette note s’inscrit dans un contexte exigeant en matière de restauration des habitats naturels face à une dégradation continue et inquiétante de leur état de conservation. Elle vise ainsi à éclairer les réflexions des gestionnaires d’aires marines protégées (AMP) et des porteurs de projets, mais aussi aider les services instructeurs à l’instruction des projets déployés sur l’espace marin et le domaine public maritime.

On peut y retrouver :

• un bref rappel de notions théoriques relatives à la thématique ainsi qu’au règlement européen sur la restauration de la nature adopté en juin 2024
   
• des retours d’expériences sur différents travaux et projets menés en France tels que la mise en place de mouillages innovants, la lutte contre des espèces invasives, des opérations de retraits de bateaux hors d’usages ou de macrodéchets, des transplantations et semis d’herbiers marins et de macroalgues, le retrait de récifs artificiels, etc.
   
• une analyse critique des projets présentés permettant de tirer des enseignements sur leurs atouts et limites, au regard d’une méthode d’évaluation élaborée avec PatriNat visant à objectiver le plus robustement possible ces travaux.

A few months ago, a technical note dedicated to the restoration of benthic habitats in coastal marine environments was published by the Life Marha project. The document is now translated and available in English.

The publication of this note is set within a challenging context regarding the restoration of natural habitats in the face of a continuing and worrying deterioration in their state of conservation. Its aim is to provide information for managers of marine protected areas (MPAs) and project developers, as well as to help the authorities responsible for appraising projects in marine areas and the public maritime domain.

It presents :

• a brief review of the theoretical concepts relating to the subject and the European regulation on nature restoration adopted in June 2024
•  feedback on various projects carried out in France, such as the deployment of innovative moorings, the fight against invasive species, the removal of end-of-life boats and macro-waste, the transplanting and seeding of seagrass and macro-algae, the removal of artificial reefs, etc.
• a critical analysis of the projects presented, drawing conclusions about their benefits and limits, based on an evaluation method developed with PatriNat aimed at objectivising the projects as thoroughly as possible.
